September Creativity Award

Each month we see such creative ideas that are easily made with vinyl lettering.  Mona, a teacher in Oklahoma came up with this great phrase and idea.  We just love it.  Her idea and photos combined with our vinyl lettering and voila!...a creativity award winner.

Congratulations Mona!  Your photo clock is a wonderful idea and exactly what we look for in our creativity contest.  Thank you for participating and thank you to everyone who submits their creations each month!

Vinyl lettering is such a great way to decorate.  It is easy to apply and very adhesive but comes off easily without defacing walls and you don't have to mess with paint.  Send us a picture of your vinyl craft lettering creation and you could be our winner next month!

Send us a picture of your vinyl lettering (purchased through Vinyl Craft Lettering) to info@vinylcraftlettering.com or post it on the Vinyl Craft Lettering Facebook page and be entered to win October's Creativity Award!

August Creativity Winner

Our Creativity Award for the month of August goes to Scot from Texas.

Vinyl lettering on watercraft is very popular and he nailed it with this custom request.  When we first started communicating about making his custom project into a vinyl decal he wasn't sure it could be done and expected to have to paint the project.  We were able to take his design and make it into a file that works with our vinyl cutting program.  These are projects we love!  It really gives us an opportunity to "Wow" our clients by helping them create something they didn't know was possible.

Congratulations Scot!  We wish you many relaxing days on the water!

Enter to win September's Creativity Award by sending in a picture of your vinyl lettering (purchased through Vinyl Craft Lettering) to info@vinylcraftlettering.com or post it on the Vinyl Craft Lettering Facebook page.

True Love Story

This is our love story, let's make it nothing less than what wished for.

This last week I read "Heaven is Here" a truly amazing book of events in a woman's life. It inspired me to make a design of this saying, but something isn't quite right. I cannot put my finger on it, can you help me? What would make this design better?

Just wanted to share what I have been doing with those vinyl stencils. My sister is having a baby boy soon, so I made her a onesie with a tie and a graphic of a giraffe, and then another onesie with his name on the bum. He will be so cute! Can't wait to see them on him!

Want your own baby onesie tie? Be sure to order through our custom vinyl design center and specify what size onesie you will be using.

Spray Fabric Paint with Stencils

fabric spray paint

Now this type of paint is a little trickier than the previous stencil posts (bleach pens, regular fabric paint). I used fabric spray paint from Tulip, and I did mess up the first time, let me show you how...

What not to do: too much paint, and spray too close

Now my mistake was I was spraying the paint too close to the fabric and spraying too much!! This caused the paint to bleed outside of the edges, and not allow the font to appear clear and precise like I wanted.

By the way, all paint and bleach will bleed to the other side of the t-shirt unless you place cardboard or another thick object between layers of fabric.

The correct way, spray the paint at least 10 inches from surface.

This is the correct way. Here I sprayed the paint at least 10 inches from the surface, and to get the darker red, I did two coats (sprayed it again after the first layer dried). See those lines above my name? That was my error, when I cut the vinyl, I didn't cut a big enough space around it (if you place an order for a stencil, you will have a border of at least three inches).

Using fabric spray paint was a trial-and-error process but it worked out great and now I have a team t-shirt for a mud run coming up!!

Mahalo New Vinyl Product

Mahalo Vinyl Lettering

Aloha, Eileen sent me this picture yesterday, and I could not help but smile. Far down the road I am planning a trip to Hawaii, and this seemed to just fit perfectly with my day.

This is sold in two ways, as a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Kit, or as the lettering only. The color of the flowers and flip flops are as shown in the picture, unless specified on the order and then you can choose the color for the lettering.

Know anyone who used to live in Hawaii? This would absolutely be a fantastic gift or for a house-warming party!

You can order your Mahalo vinyl lettering on our website.

Fabric Paint with Stencils

vinyl stencil
fabric painting
fabric painting with vinyl stencils

Rather than making a graphic t-shirt with a bleach pen, you can use fabric paint. Fabric paint comes in so many different packages and a safe way to paint on fabric is to go slow and use a foam brush. Again this is very kid friendly as long as you monitor how much fabric paint is used (you don't want to slather too much on).

By the way, all paint and bleach will bleed to the other side of the t-shirt unless you place cardboard or another thick object between layers of fabric.

Next time we will talk about another type of fabric paint. Fabric Spray Paint!!

Make your own custom stencil here!
*Note: When ordering, it does not matter which color vinyl you use, so might as well choose a color that is discounted like red, yellow, or green.

Vinyl Stencils

Cute as a bug Stencil

Last week we tried out using stencils on t-shirts and other types of fabric. Slowly we will demonstrate the different methods we used and the results we achieved.

Today, the photos shown show using a stencil and a bleach pen .By the way, all paint and bleach will bleed to the other side of the t-shirt unless you place cardboard or another thick object between layers of fabric.

Wyatt using the bleach penFinished t-shirtA good benefit is that it is a good project to do with your children, as long as they are old enough to color in the lines, of course.

*Note: When ordering, it does not matter which color vinyl you use, so might as well choose a color that is discounted like red, yellow, or green.

Mother's Day Blocks

Mom BlocksOur Mom is... Blocks

We love that Mothers Day is coming up. We have just created these blocks, and love how customized they can be. They remind me of those little block calendars that were on the secretary's desk at school, and I always loved playing with them!
